Vodafone  Group PLC on Tuesday reported a record net loss of 21.9 billion pounds (euro 32.0 billion; US$40.7 billion) in the year ending March 31, but share prices rose after the company announced it would be returning an additional 3 billion pounds (Euro 4.4 billion; US$5.6 billion) to shareholders. The loss, the largest ever for a British-based company, compared to a profit of 6.4 billion pounds (euro 9.3 billion; US$11.9 billion) attributable to equity shareholders in the previous year.
